To support the use of environmentally friendly vehicles to reduce carbon emissions, the Jakarta Environmental Agency this year procured five units of electric compactor-type waste transport trucks.

This is the spirit of reducing air pollution

Dedy Setiono, Head of Waste Reduction and Handling Division said the procurement of this electric compactor is a form of commitment towards a greener and more sustainable future for Indonesia and contributes to reducing transportation carbon emissions.

"We will have five units plus its charger this year, where the capacity is six to seven cubic meters. This is the spirit of reducing air pollution," he expressed, Tuesday (2/20).

He explained the Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKL) or Charging Station would be placed at the Bantar Gebang Landfill.

"SPKLU charging is claimed to be super fast, as its charging provides full power in 20 to 30 minutes per vehicle," he explained.

He added the operators had been trained to operate the electric compactor. He believes that operators can easily adapt because the operation is not much different from conventional diesel-fueled compactors.

“We bring the spirit of reducing emissions in waste management in Jakarta. Because of the long stage, production and so on will be launched at the end of 2024," he stated.
